Personal Fitness Training for the Young at Heart
Join our many clients over 50 who now have more energy and zest for life by reaping the benefits of regular exercise.
According to a recent report on physical activity*, it's the over 50's who are leading the way in becoming more physically active in the UK. This group saw the biggest increases in those meeting the minimum activity guidelines. This is encouraging news, and a sign that more of us are accepting that age is no barrier to enjoying an active lifestyle. And nor should it be; you've worked hard most of your life, so these years are yours to live to the fullest.
Not only will exercise give you more energy and zest for life, but it has many proven health benefits too:
Increased life expectancy
Better strength and mobility
Reduced lower back pain
Reduced risk of falls
Reduced cognitive decline
Reduced body fat levels
Reduced risk of hip fractures
Help to reduce cholesterol
Help to reduce blood pressure
Decreased risk of cardiovascular disease
Decreased risk of certain cancers including breast and colon cancer.
Reduced symptoms of depression & anxiety
Reduced pain of arthritis
Improved function of the heart and lungs
Decreased risk of type-2 diabetes
Improved bone density to help manage osteoporosis
Increased libido
In fact, the potential benefits of exercise are so huge, that the Chief Medical Officer for England reported that: "if a medication existed which had a similar effect, it would be regarded as a 'wonder drug' or 'miracle cure'" (CMO England Report 2009).
I have a great deal of experience working with clients over 50, and can offer safe and effective exercise programmes for a variety of objectives including fat loss, strength, mobility, agility, and sports performance. As a qualified exercise referral specialist, I can also help you manage certain medical conditions for which exercise is recommended by a GP, including Diabetes, Obesity, Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Anxiety, Depression, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, COPD & Lower Back Pain.
Each new client goes through a full lifestyle consultation and assessment to ensure their exercise programme takes into account current fitness and limitations, whilst providing the best possible path to meeting their goals. Sessions are fun and uplifting, and if you train in a small group, you'll have the added benefit of meeting others that share the same desire to become more active. I can train you in your own home - covering Central North Wiltshire, or at a modern, well-equipped private studio on the outskirts of Devizes.
